Practical questions
Suspected poisoning: do not induce vomiting
If a person may have swallowed, breathed in or touched a harmful substance, seek medical advice immediately. Do not wait for symptoms to prove the exposure was serious. Unconsciousness, breathing difficulty, seizures or a suspected life-threatening poisoning emergency requires 998 in the UAE—not a routine callback request.

Keep yourself away from the substance
Do not enter a contaminated room or handle an unknown chemical without appropriate protection. Warn others about the hazard and follow emergency instructions. Give the dispatcher the location, the suspected product and how exposure occurred; if fumes are involved, explain that before anyone enters to help.

Avoid improvised antidotes
Do not make the person vomit and do not give food, drink or a household “neutraliser” unless a qualified emergency professional directs it. These actions can add harm. If the person becomes unresponsive, report their breathing immediately and follow the dispatcher’s instructions rather than trying to force something into their mouth.

Provide a factual product timeline
Keep packaging, a safe photograph of the label or a medicine list available if doing so does not delay help or expose you again. State the time and possible amount honestly, including uncertainty. Do not conceal a medicine error from embarrassment; responders need accurate information, not an online diagnosis of the toxin.
